Most people in India are very new to the habit of reading. With reading I don't mean textbooks, we are fluent textbook readers.
But novels and magazines are very new to us in comparative to rest of the world.
Supporting and encouraging this new habit in a very interesting way, there are a certain group of people who are hiding books at various public places and when someone finds these book, they can read it and keep it back, for others to discover and read. Fascinating?

Giving a little more detail of the same. There are two such communities that are running this beautiful initiative. One being the " Books on the Delhi Metro " which hides books in various metro stations in Delhi. Other being the " Book Fairies " which hides everywhere in the city from parks and malls to restaurants and other public places.
Making this even more fun, books have stickers of the respective two communities. When one book is hidden, a hint of the place along with a picture of the book is dropped on the social networking site Instagram.
This initiative is growing in other cities as well, Mumbai, Goa, Bangalore and Kolkata have also stepped into this initiative.

So, the next time you go around the city, keep yourself open to find books, you always desired to read and that too without spending a penny.
